Creative Mentoring & Coaching

Work with me 1:1 to grow your creative practice, hone in on your unique style, or reach for art career goals. Each mentorship is guided by you and your goals, and the work is tailored to give you the tools and knowledge to achieve your dreams.

These creative mentorships are particularly well-suited to digital and traditional artists looking to expand on their artistic strengths and develop a unique and authentic style.

These mentorships suit artists who are already underway on their artistic journey and ready to begin developing a part-time or full-time art practice.

I’m Thaleia. It’s nice to meet you.

I’ve been a full-time artist and creative business owner for over a decade, and I know that it can be a tough and changeable lifestyle. Through the years, I’ve cultivated my art style and creative practice to support myself full-time, as well as fulfil my creative spirit. I am passionate about self-study, following your interests, and focusing on the things that bring you joy. Everyone has a unique creative voice, and helping artists discover how to see their own is one of the most delightful things I do.

I work with watercolour, gouache, and acrylics, and my work ranges from surface design, to illustration, to fine art. I believe that you can support yourself with your art without losing your creative side to stress, business, and marketing. Whether you’re trying to fuel your artistic growth, or struggling to sustain a creative practice, or embarking on making a living from your art, I hope my experience and knowledge can ease the way for you and make your dreams a little more attainable.

Artistic Growth

Perhaps you never can never think of what to draw, and your creativity feels stagnant or non-existent. Maybe you’re not where you want to be in your artistic journey, and that gap is uncomfortable. Through a mentorship, we’ll work together to build a studio practice that fits your life and goals, along with exercises and studies that will enrich your creativity and leave you brimming with inspiration.

Style & Technique

For artists with a good body of work behind them, it can still be hard to see your direction and strengths clearly. We can work together to pinpoint your strengths and unique style, as well as examine weaker aspects of your practice and find ways to strengthen them. Through studies, reviews of your work, and explorations of other art, you will learn how to lean into the most unique aspects of your work and truly follow your artistic passions.

Art Business & Artist Branding

Let’s talk about marketing and selling your art! Through 1:1 discussion, we’ll cover different ways you can make a living from your art. If you dream of opening your own print shop but feel overwhelmed at all the things you need to know, or if you’re already underway but feel stuck, this mentorship will aim to help you fill your knowledge gaps, problem-solve stress points, and envision a bolder, more joy-filled future for your art business. Drawing on a decade of experience as a full-time artist and business owner, I will help you navigate the bumpy world of selling, and teach you how to plan ahead!

What is a mentorship?

It is a series of 1:1 discussions that aim to equip you with knowledge, practices, and structures to go forward with a robust creative practice and the tools to achieve your goals.

A mentorship is not a course, training, or class. I won’t be teaching you techniques or giving art demonstrations (though I can help you create a framework for self-study and share my own techniques with you). You’ll leave the mentorship with the tools, knowledge, and, I hope, the confidence to continue forging ahead on your creative journey. And I’ll be there cheering you on!

Our mentoring sessions will be conducted via video or voice chat. I understand not everyone is comfortable on camera, and if you wish, we can keep the cameras off! I use Discord, Skype, or Google Meet to host mentoring sessions, depending on your preference.

Please note: I am based in Australia, and available times will be between 10AM – 4PM, Monday – Friday, GMT +10. I can accommodate evening sessions on request, subject to availability.

One-Off Mentoring Sessions

Perfect for getting a taste of mentoring, or for getting a bit of help when you’re stumped by art block, art frustrations, or confidence woes. Let’s talk through the issue and find a set of solutions for you to put into practice! This short mentoring session is also great if you’re unsure where to start with a big project, or are floundering with momentum. There’s so much that can change in one short hour!

Before your call, I’ll send you a small set of questions by email, so I can get an idea of who you are, what your art is like, and what you are seeking mentoring for. This means that as much of your 1 hour session as possible is devoted to getting you the advice you need.

$125 for one hour

Four Session Bundle (A Month of Mentoring)

Over the course of a month, we’ll have four hour-long online calls. During these sessions, I’ll work with you to help you create solutions to your problems, and we’ll set milestones for you to reach, and map the path to get there. There will be work for you to do between each call, and by the end of the mentorship, you’ll see you have achieved so much! (An option for the four calls to take place over two months at every two weeks, or four months monthly, is also available).

$400 for one month of mentoring (including four calls and a complementary follow-up call)

Session One

On our first call, we’ll talk about your current art practice and your goals, including setting a goal for your mentorship, and the things holding you back. We’ll work on devising a studio practice that suits you and your lifestyle, and send you off with homework that will get you there.

Sessions Two & Three

As you work towards your goals, you’ll come across problems and road-blocks. Our session two and three check-ins will be a place to ask questions, problem-solve, and get answers. We’ll set tasks for the weeks ahead, and celebrate the hard work you’ve done.

Session Four

In our final call, we’ll discuss how you envision the future of your artistic practice, and how your mindset might have shifted over the mentoring period. You’ll set milestones for the future, both long-term and short-term, and ask any lingering questions you still have. I’ll send you off with a helpful bundle of resources tailored for you.

Complementary Follow-Up Call

I offer a complementary 40-min follow-up call two months after your final call. You can celebrate your wins with me, ask questions, or use your time to workshop your plans going forward.

I’d love to see how your creative practice grows!
